What more proof do Americans need that the Left’s obsession with so-called “criminal justice reform” is a disaster? Just look at the mayhem unleashed in New Orleans. Ten inmates—including accused murderers and armed robbers—stroll out of the Orleans Parish jail like it’s a hotel lobby, thanks to utter negligence by Sheriff Susan Hutson. And now she’s facing 30 felony charges. That’s not just incompetence. That’s criminal mismanagement, plain and simple.
The details are jaw-dropping. These criminals escaped using a hole behind a toilet, busting through faulty locks and a fence, all while guards failed to even notice. Not only that, but they left mocking graffiti behind to prove just how easy it was. Can you imagine the arrogance? This kind of lapses don’t just happen—they’re encouraged by a system where soft-on-crime liberals refuse to take law enforcement seriously. Instead of building real accountability, they cut budgets, ignore warnings, and pretend that criminals will just magically behave because it’s “progressive.”
Even after spending millions on this jail and trying to stick federal oversight on top of the problem, nothing changed. The place is still rife with violence and corruption. Staff shortages and broken equipment have become the norm, not the exception. The sheriff and her team have been accused not only of ignoring these issues, but actually covering them up, tampering with records, and trying to stonewall an investigation. Why? Because liberal politicians always care more about their own careers than protecting law-abiding citizens.
It gets worse. Local officials had every warning sign they needed: years of chaos, dangerous escapes, and repeated failures to do the basics of the job. But instead of cracking down, it’s all about playing politics and ducking responsibility. And what do we get? Families living in fear while criminals run wild.
This isn’t just a New Orleans problem. This is happening anywhere liberals run the show. When leftists swap tough policing for empty slogans, the only winners are the criminals. Americans are sick of the excuses. We need real leadership—someone who backs the blue and isn’t afraid to enforce the law. Maybe it’s time the ruling class in these Democrat cities stops cozying up to criminals and starts thinking about the real victims for once. Or will they just keep opening the jail door and handing over the keys?
