When people talk about the American dream, it’s about opportunity—the freedom to go places, see new things, and build the life you want. For regular folks, the rise of budget airlines like Spirit made it possible to travel without emptying your bank account. Moms visiting their grandkids, students seeing the country for the first time, hard-working families treating themselves to a real vacation—Spirit made all that possible. But now? The big government busybodies have managed to kill off yet another slice of affordable living.
Spirit Airlines is being put out of business, and the ones swinging the hammer aren’t in the boardroom—they’re pushing pens in Washington, D.C. These so-called “regulators,” led by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, just love to jump in and “protect” the little guy. But let’s be honest: All they really do is stomp on hard-working Americans who just want more choices for their money. It’s nothing but liberal hypocrisy—these bureaucrats say they care about ordinary people, but it’s their red tape strangling one of the very companies that actually helps folks fly.
What did these anti-free-market crusaders do? They blocked mergers, threatened lawsuits, and piled up regulations until Spirit couldn’t breathe. They claim it’s all about “competition” and “fairness.” But funny enough, every time these leftist rule-makers get involved, competition dries up and prices go up. The fat cats behind the regulatory curtain are just protecting giant corporations—in the name of the “public good,” of course. Meanwhile, the little guys are grounded.
Let’s stop pretending these globalist bureaucrats care about average Americans. Closing the doors on low-cost airlines doesn’t hurt the wealthy—they’re flying first class anyway. It hurts families, workers, and everyone trying to stretch a dollar. But then again, maybe that’s the plan. The liberal elite can’t stand the idea of regular people flying coast to coast. In their world, if you aren’t rich enough to buy a ticket on their favorite “approved” airlines, you don’t deserve to fly at all.
Spirit Airlines didn’t just go bankrupt. It was choked out by the same arrogant, unelected regulators who think they know best. Is this what “progress” looks like? Loss of freedom, less opportunity, and working-class Americans left behind. Maybe it’s time to toss the regulators out and let Americans soar again.
