Liberal politicians love to claim they’re protecting the “little guy.” But when their policies actually put American workers out of a job and make air travel a nightmare for families, suddenly they have nothing to say. Just look at what happened when the Biden administration’s Department of Justice decided to block JetBlue from merging with Spirit Airlines. They said it was to keep the competition “fair.” Well, now Spirit Airlines has completely shut down—and guess who’s suffering? Not the elites, but regular Americans.
This isn’t just a simple business deal gone wrong. This is what happens when big government steps in for no good reason. The bureaucrats in Washington think they know better than the people who actually run airlines. They claim to fight big business, but somehow always make things worse for working Americans. Biden’s DOJ stopped the merger, and all it did was make the skies less friendly, less affordable, and a lot more uncertain for the rest of us.
Even Neera Tanden, a loyal Biden insider, is now scratching her head and wondering if the decision to block the merger was a mistake. When Biden’s own former aides start questioning the wisdom of Team Biden’s actions, you know things have gotten out of hand. The administration acted like it was protecting consumers, but now countless Spirit workers are out of jobs, travelers have fewer choices, and ticket prices are sure to skyrocket. How is that a win for anyone but the global elites who want fewer options and higher prices?
Real Americans depend on affordable flights. Families trying to visit grandparents, small business owners trying to make meetings, young people exploring opportunities—they all just lost an airline that gave them a shot at lower fares. Meanwhile, the fat cats in Washington will never feel the pain. They have their taxpayer-funded travel and luxury perks, while the rest of the country picks up the pieces from their failed decisions.
This is liberal hypocrisy at its finest. The Biden administration loves to play hero while destroying the very things that help families stay connected and workers keep their jobs. So the next time these so-called “experts” try to control our choices “for our own good,” remember who paid the real price. With this kind of leadership, it’s no wonder America is falling behind.
