The chaos at the Department of Homeland Security is exactly what happens when politicians care more about scoring points for their side than protecting our country. After a staggering 76 days with the government basically on hold, the people tasked with defending America are overworked, demoralized, and forced to pick up the pieces left behind by a record-breaking shutdown. Projects critical to our national security are unfinished. The workforce is smaller. This is what liberal “leadership” has done.
Instead of putting the security and safety of Americans first, career bureaucrats and grandstanding politicians turned the department into a playground for their games. Border projects, cyber defense—essentials for American sovereignty—got shoved aside. Why? Because the left was too busy worrying about their own anti-Trump vendettas or keeping their globalist pals happy. So much for standing behind the blue collar men and women keeping America safe.
It gets worse. As Secretary Markwayne Mullin points out, DHS workers now face low morale and staff shortages—just as illegal crossings and threats from abroad are heating up. Liberals love to say they “support the workers,” yet they’re the reason federal agents are left stressed, burned out, and fighting to do more with less. Bureaucratic gridlock and endless political posturing mean normal Americans pay the price while elitist lawmakers collect their paychecks without a care in the world.
Let’s not act surprised. The same left-wing politicians who scream about “open borders” and “abolish ICE” are pretty quick to forget about the real heroes on the frontlines. Their callous refusal to fund critical agencies—unless every pet project or cultural agenda gets thrown in—proves where their loyalties lie. Hint: it’s not with law-abiding Americans worried about fentanyl crossings, cyberattacks, or cartel violence.
If this is what a so-called “shutdown victory” looks like for liberals, every American should ask: Whose side are they really on? Homeland Security deserves better, and so do we.
