It’s happened again—another unhinged zealot, this time from Ohio, tried to terrorize elected officials with threats, poison, and paranoid hate mail. Ronald Lidderdale launched a nine-month crusade against more than 30 public servants, spewing violence and mailing envelopes packed with white powder he called ricin. What did it accomplish? Nothing, except showing just how broken our political discourse has become and how little respect is left for the men and women who try to keep this country running.
Left-wing media likes to talk endlessly about threats to democracy, but make no mistake: acts like these are the real threat. When people mail bullets with officials’ names etched on them and send emails describing how they’ll poison lawmakers, that’s not “free speech.” That’s terrorism—plain and simple. And the worst part? These kinds of fanatics feel totally justified because our political culture, fueled by the left’s demonizing rhetoric, treats disagreement as a reason for destruction.
Lidderdale wasn’t shy about his motives. He smeared his victims with the latest leftist buzzwords, calling them “fascists” and “pedophiles”—the labels Antifa and the far-left love to slap on anyone who disagrees with their agenda. Now, he’s facing a mountain of federal charges, and rightly so. But how did we get to a place where a deranged man thinks he can “renew peace” through violence? Simple: years of politicians, activists, and media mouths telling Americans the system is rigged, the other side is evil, and radical action is “justified.”
Of course, the authorities swooped in after months of threats. The Justice Department and FBI now boast about cracking down. Funny how they only seem to care about “law and order” when politicians feel threatened. Ordinary Americans deal with rising crime and get nothing but excuses from their so-called leaders. Maybe if our DOJ spent as much time protecting churches, businesses, and families as they do shielding officeholders, citizens would feel safer.
Let’s not kid ourselves—the problem starts at the top. As long as politicians and talking heads keep describing their opponents as the enemy and fanning the flames of division, more loons like Lidderdale will crawl out from the shadows. Americans don’t need more fake outrage or empty speeches from out-of-touch elites. They need leaders who respect the Constitution, believe in real justice, and restore sanity to a country that’s had more than enough of political terror—left, right, or anywhere in between. How much longer will we let angry mobs and government incompetence drag this country into the gutter?
