Russia’s Victory Day Parade Is Falling Apart and Liberals Don’t Want You to Notice

Russia is dusting off its old war stories again, parading down the streets for their annual Victory Day spectacle. Every year, the Kremlin tries to pump up national pride by rolling out their soldiers and tanks, desperate to remind everyone of Russia’s big role in defeating Nazi Germany. Yes, millions of Russians died in World War II, and that’s nothing to brush aside. But here’s the real story: this year, Russia has a problem. The parade is shrinking. The tanks are vanishing. Even the biggest, gaudiest celebration Putin can buy is looking more and more like a sad echo of the past.

Let’s not forget—this is the same Russia that kept half of Europe locked behind the Iron Curtain for decades. The Communists didn’t just beat Hitler; after the war, they chained up Poland, Hungary, East Germany, and more. Millions languished under the boot of Soviet oppression. But liberals and their globalist think tanks only ever want to talk about the “heroic Red Army,” conveniently skipping over the gulags, purges, and decades of misery. Now, after so many years crushing dissent, Russia’s saber-rattling on parade feels tired, even pathetic.

The world is watching a different Russia today. A country that’s burning through its military hardware faster than it can replace it, and desperately clinging to “glory days” to distract from economic pain and a disastrous war in Ukraine. The parade has gone from a menacing show of force to a parade of missing tanks. Maybe Russia needs to save their last working ones for real battles—who knows? All the smoke and mirrors can’t cover up the cracks in the Kremlin’s power. Liberals in America love to warn us about the danger of Russian might, but now it’s obvious: it’s just more paper tigers.

Of course, the left’s favorite move is to blame America for global instability, while they cozy up to China’s Communist Party and grovel for a seat at Davos. They claim to defend democracy, but their silence on Russian and Soviet atrocities is deafening. When Russia stumbles, as it is now, our own media barely covers it—or worse, they talk about “Putin’s comeback story,” as if autocracy is something to admire. The Victim Olympics never end, except when the victims aren’t politically convenient for the woke crowd.

Maybe it’s time to ask: what would America’s enemies be parading, if they didn’t have liberals excusing them every step of the way? Russia’s Victory Day is turning into an empty pageant. The tanks may be leaving Red Square, but it’s the parade of excuses—and Western naivety—that should worry us most.
