Germany has come up with yet another trick to save itself money on healthcare—and, as usual, it’s regular Americans who get stuck with the bill. That’s right: Germany is rolling out fresh price controls on prescription drugs. It sounds wonderful, until you realize these so-called “savings” just shift the financial pain to the wallets of American families.
Apparently, German politicians have decided their own citizens shouldn’t have to pay the true price for medicine. Instead, they demand drug companies sell at rock-bottom prices or face bans. Left-wing dreamers love to praise Europe’s “cheap” healthcare, but they never mention how these “bargains” come at our expense. When Germany tightens its belt, Big Pharma doesn’t just eat the loss—they hike up prices for Americans who don’t have a government bureaucrat setting the price tag.
Of course, Democrats and global elites love to talk about “fairness” and “equity,” but where is the fairness in making working American families pick up the slack? While Germany brags about slashing its healthcare bills, U.S. patients will soon pay even more at the pharmacy. Liberals here keep cheering for European-style healthcare—never mind that it means higher costs and fewer choices for everyone else.
Let’s not pretend for a second that Germany is alone. Other countries will follow, emboldened by globalist policies that always seem to give foreigners a free ride at America’s expense. Our leaders should be protecting our citizens, not letting foreign governments raid our pockets to fund their socialist experiments. But the Biden administration would rather sneak off to another international conference and sell middle America down the river.
Americans are tired of footing the bill for Europe’s freebies. While German bureaucrats pat themselves on the back, millions of Americans will be forced to pay more for the same lifesaving drugs. Why should we lose so Germany can win? Maybe it’s time to ask our own leaders whose side they’re really on.
