It’s no secret that President Trump has found himself dealing with a world that doesn’t exactly love America first. Europe, especially, likes to throw tantrums when they’re not getting special treatment. And don’t forget the Vatican—the so-called moral authority that always seems more interested in playing leftist politics than helping real people. When things get tense, you need a conservative with backbone to set things straight. Enter Marco Rubio.
Rubio is heading to Italy and straight to the Vatican this week. The goal? Get things back on track and remind Italy—and the current Pope—that the United States isn’t going to be pushed around. The global elites in both Rome and the Vatican have gotten used to American leaders who apologize for our greatness, bow to socialist demands, and roll over whenever Europe complains. That’s not Trump’s America.
Relations soured after certain liberal critics couldn’t handle Trump making America strong again. They’d rather please foreign powers and get applause at cocktail parties than stand up for American values. The Pope, who is supposed to care about faith and truth, has spent more time making backroom political deals than defending the tradition that built Western civilization. It’s about time someone reminded him and the Italians what real leadership looks like.
Rubio isn’t a pushover, and he’s not there to beg or make false promises. He’s the perfect choice to remind the Vatican and Italian officials that America is leading again and we expect respect. No more bowing to globalist policies. No more caving to pressure from people who don’t even have to answer to voters.
Liberals will wail and moan. They’ll claim diplomacy is dead or that Trump’s choices don’t fit their tired scripts. But when has their “world order” ever worked out for American families, jobs, or security? Maybe the Pope and Italy wouldn’t be so cold with America if the left hadn’t spent years apologizing for our strength. This time, we’re sending a real conservative with a message: America comes first, get used to it.
America finally has a president—and an envoy—who won’t crawl to Europe’s doorstep looking for approval. Isn’t it about time the world remembers who leads, and who follows?
