The federal government is at it again, stomping on the rights of Americans and calling it “justice.” Now the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), that bloated agency loved by liberal elites and globalist grifters, has decided that the First Amendment is just a suggestion. Gag orders slapped on defendants tell folks that if you dare settle with the government, you better keep your mouth shut—forever. Speak up and you risk punishment that feels like a death sentence for your right to speak out.
The SEC wants unlimited power, pure and simple. Now even their own former lawyers are blowing the whistle, calling out these outrageous orders. The rules aren’t just about stopping bad guys from lying—no, these bans are so sweeping, so permanent, that courts have thrown out milder speech restrictions before. But the know-it-alls running the federal show figure they’re above the Constitution. Why? Because in their world, Washington always wins and the American citizen always loses.
Picture this: you defend yourself in court, maybe risk everything on a jury trial. If you lose, government tries to silence you for life. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce compared this to a death penalty for speech, and they’re right. These are ordinary people, businesses and entrepreneurs—most of them just trying to do their jobs or defend their name—getting threatened by the giant club of the administrative state. Free speech isn’t a luxury; it’s the bedrock of America itself.
Liberals love to talk about rights—except, it seems, when it’s your right to speak your mind after a government smackdown. They preach about “democracy,” but can’t stand the idea of citizens telling the truth about how they’ve been treated. Big government gets to drag your name through the mud, but you? Silence. If that sounds a little too much like the playbook of socialist regimes, maybe it’s because our ruling class is learning all the wrong lessons from their globalist heroes.
Americans don’t take kindly to threats against our freedoms—especially not by unelected bureaucrats hiding behind mountains of red tape. The First Amendment doesn’t come with an expiration date or a gag order. If the Supreme Court has even a shred of courage left, these speech-killing rules will be tossed into the trash heap where they belong. Anybody ready to tell the federal bullies: Enough is enough?
