They aren’t upset that people might go hungry—they’re mad they’re losing their grip. For Democrats, every person who leaves welfare behind is one less reliable vote.
So, the next time a liberal says Republicans don’t care about the poor, ask them this: Who gives people the dignity of work and the freedom to live without government strings attached? The answer sure isn’t the party of welfare addiction. That’s the real path to the American Dream—and it sure isn’t found in another food stamp handout.
