The so-called “protectors” of competition in DC, always scheming to look virtuous for the cameras, ended up kneecapping a vital low-cost carrier and stripping millions of Americans of affordable flights. The Biden regime’s interference all but guaranteed Spirit’s demise—then they stood back and acted shocked by the mess their own hands created.
When JetBlue tried to buy Spirit, there was a real chance to rescue it. Private money and business know-how were ready to step up and save jobs, stabilize the market, and keep ticket prices fair. But no—the Biden Department of Justice stamped it out, clinging to outdated fears and blind to the obvious writing on the wall. So Spirit got squeezed out of the skies, not by the free market but by leftist busybodies drunk on power.
And what happened when Spirit finally failed? The difference in leadership couldn’t be clearer. Under Trump’s team, government didn’t order a clumsy bailout or muscle in for a takeover. They leveraged private-sector speed, flexibility, and incentives. Airlines worked together to get travelers home without the price spikes liberals always scream about. Behind the scenes—real coordination, voluntary commitments, and zero hand-holding from Washington. No chaos. No nationalization dreams come true. Just market solutions working the way only capitalism can.
These so-called “consumer advocates” on the left love to pretend their policies save the little guy. Reality tells a different story. Their anti-business dogma only leads to higher prices, lost jobs, and destroyed competition. There’s a reason American workers and travelers suffer while bureaucrats pat themselves on the back. The left trades strong companies and steady jobs for virtue-signaling headlines and big-federal-budget schemes.
The lesson should be obvious—if only liberals could ever learn it. When you let the market work, Americans win: clean, quick recoveries, new investment, and real choices. When you get DC’s radical crowd involved, you get grounded planes, closed workplaces, and families left stranded by empty promises. Maybe someday the so-called experts will wake up, but don’t hold your breath. Is it any wonder the American people are tuning out the old globalist script and demanding real, common-sense leadership?
