It’s that time of year again—the Met Gala, where America’s self-proclaimed royalty struts around in bizarre outfits and lectures the rest of us about morals and justice. This year, however, the event isn’t just a glitzy parade of fashion disasters. It’s become a showcase of left-wing hypocrisy at its finest. The same Hollywood elite who love to wag their fingers at working Americans are now up in arms over Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez taking center stage as lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs.
Let’s get this straight: these are the same liberal celebrities who gladly collect millions from Big Tech, who shop on Amazon every other day, who binge-watch Amazon streaming shows, and who cozy up to Silicon Valley dollars whenever the cameras aren’t rolling. Yet now, because Bezos is footing the bill for their beloved fashion party, they’re suddenly calling for a boycott. Why? Apparently, they can’t stand the idea of being associated with a rich guy they usually have no problem doing business with when it lines their pockets.
This is a perfect example of how the left operates. They attack capitalism while raking in its profits. They whine about billionaires, but line up for photo ops with the very same ones who bankroll their projects. And when the public sees through the act, they don’t apologize—they double down and throw tantrums on social media, demanding everyone else join their meaningless boycotts.
Of course, the globalist agenda is never far from these glitzy affairs. The Met Gala is a symbol of the “rules for thee, but not for me” crowd—a place where masks only exist for the help, and woke causes are conveniently set aside when there’s champagne to be drunk and designer dresses to be shown off. The irony is almost too much to take. Hollywood isn’t mad at Bezos for being a billionaire. They’re mad he’s not their billionaire, under their thumb.
Here’s a question worth asking: If the left’s newest villain—the Amazon boss himself—is suddenly persona non grata at the world’s most exclusive party, does anyone really believe it’s about principles? Or is it just the rich and famous fighting to keep their own club pure from anything that threatens their power? That’s what happens when liberal privilege gets exposed for all to see. Let’s call this what it is: another example of the cultural elite turning on each other while the rest of us shake our heads at the spectacle.
