Two American soldiers vanished over the weekend during joint military exercises in North Africa, and most of the mainstream media barely blinked an eye. Here’s what really happened: while supposedly off-duty, our soldiers took a sunset hike—a break from an international training mission packed with over 7,000 troops and diplomats from more than thirty countries. But this wasn’t a vacation or a guided tour. Someone slipped, tumbled off a cliff, and landed in the water below. The rest tried desperately to save him. A chain of soldiers formed. They did everything they could, risking their own lives to pull their brother-in-arms to safety. When the chain broke, another jumped. Another tried. Still, both soldiers remain missing.
It shouldn’t take a Defense Department press release or a Pentagon spokesman to remind the world that America’s best and bravest are still out there, putting themselves in harm’s way—not just at the front lines, but in the blink of a moment during so-called “routine” deployments. Remember, these are the men and women Joe Biden and the woke Pentagon brass expect to carry water for globalist interests, police the world’s problems, and play diversity games while bullets (and apparently, cliffs and raging waters) fly.
The so-called African Lion exercise is just the latest example of America footing the bill for international showcases and photo ops, while the safety and well-being of our soldiers always seem to come last. Over 30 countries were represented, but when tragedy strikes, it’s the American flag out in front—and it’s American families who lose sleep at night, waiting for news that rarely comes swiftly or honestly.
The truth is, our troops deserve leaders focused on their safety and purpose, not senseless grandstanding or political correctness. The military’s job is to defend America’s interests, not play international babysitter or globalist chess. Yet time and again, the left sends our best into pointless, dangerous corners of the world, more worried about checking woke boxes than giving our troops the tools—and respect—they need.
Ask yourself: if two woke protestors missing from a college campus made the nightly news, would we see CNN panels crying all week? But two American soldiers go missing under perilous circumstances in the service of their country, and we get crickets. A disgrace. Maybe it’s time to bring our warriors home and let the globalists police themselves for a change.
