California’s War on Young Workers Exposed How Forced Health Insurance Is Making You Poorer

California loves to talk about “freedom,” but its leaders sure don’t seem to know what it means. The state is in a terrible affordability crisis—everyone agrees on that, even the left-wing politicians running for governor. Yet these same politicians keep pushing laws that make it harder for regular people to get by. Case in point: California actually forces young people to buy expensive health insurance. That’s not freedom. That’s the Nanny State run wild.

Let’s face it: most young adults are healthy. They’re just starting their careers, barely making rent or student loan payments. But Sacramento bigwigs don’t care. They punish these young workers if they don’t shell out for overpriced insurance they rarely use. Isn’t California supposed to be the “progressive” utopia? If making kids pay hundreds every month for coverage they don’t need is progress, conservatives will pass.

It gets even worse when you follow the money. These mandates line the pockets of insurance companies, special interest groups, and government bureaucrats. Liberals pretend it’s about “public health,” but all they’re doing is shoveling cash from broke twenty-somethings straight into the hands of corporate fat cats and Sacramento cronies. Is it any wonder ordinary people are fleeing the Golden State in droves?

There’s real hypocrisy here. The same politicians who moan nonstop about housing costs and food prices are the first to slap young people with more bills. They talk about “helping working families” while draining every spare dollar. Meanwhile, illegal aliens get free rides and tech tycoons pay next to nothing. It’s backwards, upside down, and flat-out wrong.

If California’s leaders cared even a little about freedom or fairness, they’d stop punishing young adults for wanting to keep what they earn. Forcing these hard-working Americans to buy what they don’t want—or else pay a penalty—makes no sense. Whose side are these leftists on, anyway? Young Californians should ask themselves: do they want to keep following orders from out-of-touch politicians, or take control of their own futures?
