The DOJ is now urging a federal court to toss the laughable eight-year sentence slapped on Nicholas “Sophie” Roske, the would-be assassin who plotted to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh. This isn’t just a slap on the wrist. It’s practically an invitation for radicals to take a swing at conservative justices.
Let’s call this what it is: a farce. We’re talking about a person who traveled across the country, fully armed and ready to kill a sitting Supreme Court Justice. The Left’s answer? Let’s hand out a sentence that’s just a blip on the radar. Eight years for a premeditated plot to assassinate a justice? Meanwhile, grandmas who wandered around the Capitol on January 6th are treated like public enemy number one, some of them facing harsher consequences than this monster.
Anyone with common sense can see why the Department of Justice is now scrambling to fix this disaster. They originally pushed for up to 30 years behind bars. And why wouldn’t they? Targeting a Supreme Court Justice is an attack on the whole American system. But what happened instead? Liberal judges and their soft approach gummed up the works yet again, serving up a punishment that’s both embarrassing and dangerous.
This case exposes the ugly reality of how far leftist ideology has warped the judicial system. We have an entire political side that thinks protecting their own “woke” narratives and coddling criminals is more important than safeguarding national stability. The alleged would-be assassin even claims a transgender identity, and you can bet the liberal elites bent over backwards to avoid offending their own progressive sensibilities—real justice be damned.
How many more times will America watch as our institutions are put in jeopardy by the virtue signaling and incompetence of the Left? Maybe the real question is, how low does the bar have to sink before the average citizen demands the return of law and order, and the ironclad protection our Constitution deserves?
