Once again, the U.S. Senate just handed the far Left exactly what it wanted—a public slap in the face to Americans who still believe in strength, clarity, and defending our interests overseas. In a close 50-48 vote, a handful of Republican senators—yes, even some we hoped would stand firm—joined every single Democrat to pass a so-called Iran war powers resolution. But let’s be honest: this was nothing but a toothless stunt, designed to tie the hands of any future president bold enough to challenge our enemies and protect American lives.
Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Bill Cassidy chose to stand with Democrat leadership, putting political games ahead of strong national defense. It baffles anyone paying attention. Iran is not our friend. They chant “Death to America,” bankroll terror, and threaten Israel at every turn. Yet, these senators think now is the time for hand-wringing and second-guessing—not leadership. Do they know what time it is? Or are they just more worried about how they look to the D.C. cocktail class?
Make no mistake, liberals in Congress have been itching to chip away at the president’s power to protect our country. They pretend to care about “war powers” and constitutional checks, but where was all this outrage when Obama was dropping bombs across the Middle East without so much as a peep? Funny how their “principles” only show up when a commander-in-chief stands tall and draws a red line with the world’s most dangerous regime.
This wasn’t about principle. It was about sending another weak, mixed message to the world. Every time America blinks, our enemies—whether in Tehran, Beijing, or Moscow—see it as an open invitation. Democrats love to lecture about foreign policy, but they’d rather appease globalists and coddle Iran than stand up for the citizens who pay their salaries. Senate Republicans who went along with this circus should be ashamed, plain and simple.
When will Washington elites stop playing politics with our security? The American people deserve leaders who put the country first and project strength—not just pose for the cameras. Are we really supposed to feel safer because of the Senate’s latest “symbolic rebuke?” Or is Congress just telling the rest of the world that America is open for business—with weakness and indecision on special?
