Pakistan likes to pretend it’s a voice of reason on the world stage. These days, its leaders love playing peacemaker between the United States and Iran, acting as if they’re the wise adults in a room full of children. But look behind the curtain, and there’s nothing but hypocrisy. While they’re busy lecturing America about peace, their own government is cracking down—hard—on Muslims in Kashmir. These are regular people trying to defend their rights. What does Pakistan do? Labels them as terrorists and silences anyone who dares to speak up.
It’s the same old game. Liberal elites and globalist cheerleaders rush to praise nations like Pakistan for “promoting dialogue.” Convenient, isn’t it? They ignore the ugly reality that while Pakistan’s politicians smile for international cameras, their security forces slam the door on any sign of dissent. Grassroots Kashmiri protest movements that fight for freedom are crushed, their voices thrown into dark jail cells. Where’s the outrage from the so-called human rights champions in our own media? Crickets—as long as it’s not America or our allies, they just look away.
Of course, the liberal foreign policy crowd eats this up. They praise Pakistan’s double-speak without ever demanding the country follow its own advice. The left is obsessed with appeasing bad actors overseas, but can’t seem to hold them accountable at home. If a country like America even sneezes the wrong way, the left sets its hair on fire. But Pakistan’s persecution of Kashmiri Muslims? The silence is deafening. It’s as if human rights only matter when it’s politically convenient.
Pakistan’s leaders know the playbook and use it at every turn. They impress gullible diplomats, throw out big words about “dialogue” and “stability,” then turn around and send grassroots activists to rot in prison. These are not terrorists—these are ordinary people fighting for a voice. But try pointing that out at the next cocktail party in D.C. The left would rather sweep it under the rug than confront the truth.
Here’s a thought: Maybe America should stop pandering to regimes that violate basic human rights while pretending to be our friends. Real peace starts with honesty and justice—not pretending that dictatorships are suddenly champions of righteousness. Why does the left keep falling for this act? Maybe because they want so badly to feel like global citizens, they forget what freedom actually means.
