Another brutal relic of communism has finally left this world. Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, a name celebrated by America-hating radicals and loathed by freedom-loving people everywhere, is gone at the age of 94. The so-called “last revolutionary” stood right at Fidel Castro’s side from day one. Together, these regime thugs pried Cuba from a glowing tourist paradise and threw it into decades of misery, cold-hearted repression, and Soviet-style control. It’s no secret that under their rule, what was once a shimmering getaway for Americans quickly became a stomping ground for anti-American operatives and total economic ruin.
But here’s the sickening part—while Cubans remember Valdés as the architect of terror, leftist media is already scrambling to turn this “Hangman of Cuba” into a misunderstood hero. The same liberal news outlets that cry foul over American police are suddenly eager to forget the torture, the midnight arrests, and the fear Valdés inflicted upon his own people. It doesn’t fit their narrative to admit that communism breeds monsters, so they bend history instead.
Ask the average liberal talking head about Cuba, and you’ll get a fantasy about free healthcare or beaches—but nothing about the iron fist Valdés brought down on anyone daring to think for themselves. This is liberal hypocrisy at its worst. When conservatives warn about the dangers of socialism, we get labeled “alarmists.” Meanwhile, the left fawns over the architects of real suffering—always excusing or rewriting their cruelty if it fits the globalist, anti-American playbook.
It’s a slap in the face to Cubans who watched their homeland transformed from vibrant to voiceless, all so elites in America can pretend there’s something noble about selling out your countrymen to Soviet interests. The left will keep using the deaths of these despots as a chance to whitewash history, just as they do for every failed socialist experiment. They never learn, because deep down, they’d rather prop up tyrants than admit the free market works.
With Valdés gone, there’s one less red-handed dictator trying to justify decades of misery. But don’t be fooled—the real danger is how quickly our own media tries to hide the truth. How many more times must the world see the catastrophic results of socialism before the left stops idolizing its architects?
