Washington, D.C. just saw eight people overdose on the street in broad daylight. One didn’t make it. For all their fancy promises about fighting addiction, the city’s leaders have turned our nation’s capital into another open-air drug market. People shoot up in public, surrounded by trash and used needles. Drug dealers walk free while police are handcuffed by soft-on-crime policies and endless “harm reduction” schemes.
Liberals love to tell us these “clean needle” programs save lives. Here’s reality: they’re just enabling addiction. Giving out so-called “safe” supplies and free Narcan doesn’t stop the deadly flow of fentanyl onto our streets. While good people are forced to step over addicts and dealers, progressive politicians claim they’re helping.
These overdose hotspots have been out of control for years. Now, even after a so-called “Secure DC Act” created Drug Free Zones, the death toll keeps climbing. What are these extra “tools” for cops if not political window dressing? The truth is obvious—the radical crowd running America’s cities would rather score points with woke activists than keep citizens safe.
Let’s talk numbers. Over three thousand people died from overdoses in D.C. just this year. That’s one of the worst rates in the entire country. And it’s not getting better. While much of America sees fewer overdoses, D.C. stands stubbornly high—right where soft, failed policies keep it.
How many more dead Americans will it take before Democrats admit their approach is a disaster? Law-abiding taxpaying citizens deserve leaders who will crack down on crime, end public drug dens, and put the safety of their community above progressive virtue signaling. When will leftists get off their soapboxes and get tough on the drug crisis destroying the heart of our capital?
