It’s official: loving America is now something you have to apologize for in woke Los Angeles. A local TV reporter cheered on Team USA in the World Cup against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the usual army of easily offended liberals descended on her. She wasn’t yelling slurs or making crazy threats—she was literally just rooting for our country, joking that she couldn’t even find Bosnia on a map and didn’t care to because she was cheering for America. But in today’s upside-down world, that’s apparently a crime.
The feelings mob immediately started wringing their hands and clutching their pearls, acting like some sports banter was the end of the world. People complain if you’re not patriotic, but try actually expressing pride in America and watch how quickly the left wants your head on a stick. Do these woke whiners understand how sports works? Are we supposed to apologize every time we back the red, white, and blue now, just in case we offend someone from another country?
It didn’t take long for the pressure to mount until this reporter caved and apologized. Her statement was obviously forced—one of those fake apologies every public figure is bullied into after accidentally brushing up against leftist, globalist taboos. She had to call her own comments “insensitive” and a “poor effort,” just because she dared to have some fun and root for the American team. Apparently, American pride is “inappropriate” in 2024. What a joke.
Instead of standing up for free speech or national pride, too many people in media and politics choose to bend the knee to the loudest complainers. Even some supposed American “patriots” started attacking the reporter for “bowing down” to the outrage mob. It’s a sad day when just wanting the United States to win a soccer match gets you thrown to the wolves—especially by your own countrymen and the international “you can’t hurt my feelings” crowd.
Maybe it’s time for sports fans—and, frankly, all Americans—to ask themselves: since when did being patriotic make you a villain? This wasn’t hate. This wasn’t some attack. It was simple, everyday love of country—and if that requires an apology, the real problem isn’t with the reporter, it’s with a culture that punishes American pride and rewards cowardice. If we can’t even cheer for the home team anymore, is this even America?
