Radical left plot to freeze New York rent could end private housing for good

The radical left is out for blood, and this time, rent control is their weapon. In New York City, housing activist-turned-politician Zohran Mamdani is on a wild quest to end the city’s free housing market once and for all. His latest move? Push for a rent freeze, smashing any hope for the private market to thrive.

This isn’t about “protecting tenants” or “helping the poor.” Let’s be real, it’s about seizing power and punishing property owners. The so-called rent freeze is just step one in the socialist playbook. First, make landlords the villains. Second, strip them of the right to set prices for their own property. It’s a classic Marxist scheme that only a leftist politician could dream up.

When the government takes control of pricing, markets collapse. That’s not “progress.” That’s Venezuela-level economic stupidity. Limiting what landlords earn will only scare away investment, shrink the supply of apartments, and leave regular New Yorkers with fewer—and worse—housing options. Liberals love to shout about affordable housing, but their own policies destroy what’s left of it.

Mamdani and his allies claim to be fighting for the little guy. In reality, they’re setting the stage for another government power grab. Once rent control devastates the market, these “champions of justice” will swoop in demanding even more public housing, more subsidies, and more control. Funny how the people who claim to hate big business always seem to adore big government.

If Mamdani wins, say goodbye to the American dream of property rights in New York. This is what happens when liberal politicians start playing dictator. So, what’s next? Bread lines in Brooklyn? Don’t let the rent freeze fool you. The left isn’t saving the city—they’re killing it.
