The Supreme Court just handed down its latest reminder that Washington D.C. is more interested in protecting its own than serving the American people. Donald Trump tried to do what any honest leader would—hold Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook accountable amid credible allegations of mortgage fraud. What did the nation’s highest court do? It locked arms with the D.C. elite and told Trump he can’t fire her—at least, not until the bureaucracy has dragged this “legal process” out to infinity. Business as usual.
Let’s be clear about what’s going on here. A Federal Reserve official stands accused of exactly the kind of financial shenanigans the left is always accusing others of. She denies everything, of course. But as soon as Trump moves to clean house—even citing cause—suddenly every liberal lawyer, judge, and bureaucrat leaps to her defense. The same people who whined about “accountability” every day from 2017 to 2021 now want everyone to forget what accountability even means.
The real scam sits out in the open. Lisa Cook managed to get herself appointed to a 14-year term by Biden, insulating her from any real consequences. And under current law, the President supposedly can’t fire her unless he proves “cause”—which the courts and their leftwing handlers get to define however they want. So while Trump has already been allowed to remove deadweight from other broken federal agencies, apparently the Fed is too sacred for real change. It’s yet another stone wall, set up by unelected busybodies to keep reformers from threatening their cozy globalist racket.
Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell—no friend of Trump—faces his own scandal over a shady $2.5 billion headquarters renovation. How many Americans even knew about that? Don’t expect the liberal media to pound the table on those alleged irregularities. But let Trump breathe a word about interest rates, and suddenly it’s a constitutional crisis.
For years, the left has protected the Fed as their untouchable temple of monetary nonsense and inflationary schemes. When faced with real allegations, their first instinct is to run to the courts and hide behind legal fog. Career bureaucrats and their progressive allies know one thing: if Trump can actually hold someone like Lisa Cook accountable, the whole rotten system might start to crack.
This ruling proves one thing—when it comes to the ruling class, the rules are always written to protect themselves. If that doesn’t outrage every American who believes in fair play and real consequences, what will it take? Maybe it’s time to ask: are these institutions working for us, or only for themselves?
