The sad truth is, the WNBA and the sports media have it out for Caitlin Clark—and now they aren’t even hiding it. No wonder this league has never taken off with real Americans. Last week, Clark was viciously throat-punched by Alyssa Thomas during a game. It was clear as day on video, but the refs just let it slide. Only after immense public pressure did the league hand out a wink-and-nod suspension—one measly game—for what can only be called a flat-out assault.
But what’s even worse than the league’s slap on the wrist? The sports media’s reaction. One ESPN talking head bent over backwards to make it all Clark’s fault. Apparently, Caitlin sometimes “embellishes” plays, so that means it’s open season on her? Are we now blaming the victim for being assaulted on national TV? That’s the kind of nonsense you’d expect from the left: ignore the truth and twist the story to fit their agenda.
Let’s call this for what it is. The WNBA and its media allies are terrified of Clark’s popularity. The league is desperate for attention, and Clark is the only reason anyone outside a woke echo chamber is even watching. So instead of protecting their star and growing the game, they tolerate dirty play and let ESPN hosts pile on with weak excuses. If Clark were from a different demographic, you can bet the league office would be in meltdown mode, “investigating” non-stop.
The hypocrisy is stunning. The left loves to lecture us about “protecting women” and “empowering athletes,” but suddenly it’s Clark who’s the problem. When other players take cheap shots, it’s written off as “physical play.” When Clark draws contact, apparently she’s just faking it for attention. It’s the same tired game: smear the successful, blame the victim, and never hold the real bullies accountable.
At this point, you have to wonder—why should Clark put up with this garbage? She’s too talented to play punching bag for the league’s failures and media’s double standards. Maybe it’s time for her to take her talents somewhere that shows her actual respect. How much longer will Americans sit back while the woke sports world blames the victim and excuses the thug?
