No, seriously. In 2026, on America’s 250th birthday, local leaders decided it was more important to put endangered birds over patriotism, freedom, and the rights of homeowners to celebrate in their own yards. If this isn’t a prime example of modern liberal nonsense, then what is?
Homeowners on Plum Island got a warning notice telling them not to fly flags, streamers, or even reflective materials. Why? Because some state wildlife agency thinks these items might scare birds away from nesting. They threatened folks with “significant penalties” if they step out of line. Apparently, putting up the American flag is now enough to be labeled a criminal, at least if you live on the wrong sand dune in Massachusetts.
Of course, town officials ran damage control afterward. They insisted they weren’t banning patriotic displays, just “helping” spread the word for the state. That’s always how it goes when government overreaches—first they come for your flags, then they pretend nothing happened and act shocked when people are outraged. Liberals and bureaucrats want Americans to believe they’re just being “cautious,” but that’s just code for “we don’t trust you to be free.”
