Oregonians who enjoy a scoop of Tillamook, a weekend hunting trip, or the time-honored traditions of farming and ranching should be furious right now. There’s a ballot initiative clawing its way onto the Oregon ballot that would destroy the state’s way of life—criminalizing hunting, fishing, even the artificial insemination of cows. Translation: the radical Left is driving a stake right through the heart of rural Oregon, and they want you to just shut up and take it.
This isn’t a crazy joke or some internet meme—over 130,000 people signed this thing, way above the threshold needed to put it in front of voters. That alone should send chills down every patriot’s spine. How out of touch with reality do you have to be to support a plan this extreme? Goodbye to family traditions, goodbye to jobs, goodbye to basic freedoms. Welcome to a world where city elites and animal rights extremists try to dictate how folks in rural Oregon live, work, and eat.
The best part is seeing Democrats scramble to distance themselves. Suddenly, every liberal politician from the governor to the statehouse is pretending to be on the side of hunters, anglers, and farmers. They’re acting shocked—as if years of bending over backwards for animal rights groups had nothing to do with getting us here. Talk about hypocrisy. For once, even the Democrats seem to realize this proposal is toxic, and only now do they care about the people whose livelihoods are on the chopping block.
Let’s not forget what’s really happening: while politicians issue weak statements and tell Oregonians “not to worry,” dangerous, job-killing ideas are gaining ground. Soft-pedaled warnings are not enough. Oregon’s rural backbone—its farms, dairies, and hunting lands—are one crazy ballot away from disaster. Too many on the Left want to force everyone to live by their warped ideologies, economics and tradition be damned.
If Oregon voters don’t stomp out this radical nonsense for good, what’s next? Banning barbecues? Outlawing fishing poles? The time for polite debate is over—these ballot measures need to be buried, never to rise again. When the Left tells you “don’t worry,” that’s when you need to worry the most.
