Voters in the state’s First Congressional District tossed out Democrat Diana DeGette, a career politician with 15 terms under her belt. But don’t mistake this as a victory for moderation—quite the opposite. DeGette wasn’t ousted by a conservative challenger. She was abandoned by her own super-woke base in favor of twenty-nine-year-old Melat Kiros, a self-described democratic socialist.
This is the same left-wing fever that crashed into New York a few years ago. Now it’s spreading. The Democrats aren’t just leaning left anymore—they’re sprinting toward the radical fringe and taking the rest of the country with them. These aren’t leaders interested in protecting American jobs, borders, or values. They’re more concerned with socialist utopias, free handouts, and destroying every last shred of personal responsibility.
Let’s be clear: the people cheering Kiros’s big win aren’t average Americans. They’re activists hungry for bigger government, higher taxes, and endless identity politics. They want to tear down what makes this nation great and replace it with failed ideas imported straight from Europe. And the old guard—like DeGette—are powerless to stop it. The Democratic establishment created this mess by pandering to every radical cause that came knocking; now, the radicals are coming for their seats.
The message to regular folks couldn’t be clearer. Democrats used to pretend to care about blue-collar families, jobs, and law and order. Their mask is off. When you shove out a longtime incumbent for a socialist firebrand barely out of college, you signal that nothing matters except out-woking the next guy. Colorado voters just sent that signal loud and clear, and you can bet the D.C. elite are watching—and sweating.
