The radical Left got exposed for who they really are on Capitol Hill this week. During a heated House hearing about sanctuary cities, it was clear: Democrats will bend over backward for illegal aliens but have zero respect for American victims of migrant crime. Just look at how they treated Jessica Gorman, a grieving mother whose daughter Sheridan was killed by someone who shouldn’t even have been in this country. The Democrats’ priorities? Squarely with the lawbreakers—not the law-abiding.
When Representative Mike Lawler couldn’t take it anymore and called them out, Democrat Jamie Raskin threw a tantrum. Instead of addressing the broken policies that allow tragedy after tragedy, Raskin and his pals whined about “procedure” and flung insults like children having a playground meltdown. Lawler, fed up, said exactly what millions of Americans are thinking: If the Left was so outraged over the loss of American lives, they wouldn’t support sanctuary policies that protect criminal illegals. Apparently, that’s too much truth for the Democrats to handle—they’d rather shout and deflect than take responsibility for the blood on their hands.
And let’s not pretend the anti-ICE crowd are innocent darlings, either. The Left wants the world to cry over activists like Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who ignored law enforcement and paid the ultimate price for it. One tried to run over a federal agent. Actions have consequences. But Democrats act like these radical agitators deserve sainthood, while parents like Jessica Gorman get a cold shoulder. Sorry, but if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.
It’s all part of the Left’s unspoken rulebook—protect their narrative at all costs, even if it spits in the face of common sense and American safety. Lawler’s eruption wasn’t a “breach of decorum.” It was a long-overdue wakeup call for a party that seems more bothered by border patrol agents than by American citizens getting murdered. The hypocrisy would be laughable if it wasn’t so dangerous.
Maybe it’s time for the Democrats to answer a simple question: When illegal aliens are shielded by their policies and more innocent Americans end up dead, how many more families like Jessica Gorman’s have to be destroyed before they actually do something? Or have they just stopped caring about Americans altogether?
