Some things are just too ridiculous to believe, but here we go again. The latest example of liberal leadership gone off the rails comes straight out of Columbus, Ohio. City officials made the head-scratching call to announce—on social media, no less—that they’d be raising a foreign flag for Independence Day. Of all the days to make such a PR stunt, they picked the birthday of the greatest nation on earth.
People saw the stunt for what it was: pure disrespect, wrapped up in fake “inclusivity.” The backlash was immediate and deserved. When regular Americans—folks who actually love this country—called them out, the city tried to hit delete like nothing ever happened. But the damage was already done. Those posts live forever, and so does the outrage of every patriotic American sick of being treated like outsiders in their own nation.
Who on earth thinks this is acceptable? Only a city run by leftist bureaucrats could look at our Independence Day and decide to spotlight their globalist agenda. Instead of honoring the red, white, and blue, they scrambled to virtue signal at the expense of real American pride. It’s always the same playbook: worry about every other flag, every other nation, while ignoring the people and history right under their noses.
Does anyone really believe these woke city officials love America? Or is this just another example of pandering to globalist interests and trampling on America’s traditions? It’s always about tearing down what made this country great, never about building anything up. Funny how that works.
Liberals can try to backtrack all they want, but Americans see right through it. The next time some city council wants to look “inclusive,” maybe they should remember which country gives them the freedom to embarrass themselves online in the first place. When it comes to standing up for the United States, maybe these bureaucrats should just sit down and let the real patriots lead the way.
