America’s tax dollars are under attack—not from some foreign enemy, but from the very people hired to protect and serve us. Take the latest shocking case out of Puerto Rico: a former Social Security Administration employee just got convicted for stealing nearly two million dollars from the funds every hardworking American pays into. What was her genius plan? Using dead people’s identities, helping herself to payments, and wiring government cash right into her own bank account. This theft went on for twelve years. Twelve. Years. That’s not an accident—that’s a culture of corruption inside the federal bureaucracy.
The left will tell us government is the solution to all our problems. But what happens when government workers become the problem? This woman, plugged into the SSA for almost three decades, spent over a decade siphoning money in broad daylight. She was supposed to protect our elderly and most vulnerable citizens. Instead, she was lining her own pockets with their benefits, making up fake claims and moving money around like she was running her very own criminal operation. And for over a decade, no one in the SSA caught her. No one raised a flag. This is what unchecked, unaccountable big government gets us.
Where was the oversight? Where was the Democrat champion for “transparency” and “accountability”? Nowhere to be found. When liberals preach expanding government power, remember it’s stories like this that follow. The fact that someone could get away with this staggering level of theft for so long is a damning indictment of the system. It isn’t a “rare incident”—it’s the rot that sets in when no one is guarding the henhouse. American taxpayers are treated like ATMs, and the bureaucrats in charge just look the other way until the money is all gone.
This isn’t just one bad apple, either. The headlines have been filled with identity theft, welfare fraud, and bureaucrats abusing their access. The bigger the government gets, the more loopholes and shadows it creates for crooks to hide in. All this is supposed to be “for the people,” but the only people cashing in are the fraudsters and the insiders. Meanwhile, honest Americans are the ones getting fleeced. If liberals had their way, they’d pour more money, with even less oversight, into broken programs just like this. It’s almost as if they like the waste.
Any politician demanding more federal power in the name of “social justice” ought to answer how a government worker could rob $1.8 million of our money from under their noses. Or is the truth that they just don’t care, as long as the machine runs and the taxpayer pays? How much longer will Americans stand by while bureaucrats and bad actors turn our social safety net into their own personal piggy bank?
