Los Angeles is up to its old tricks again. This time, city leaders almost handed away the most basic American right—the right to vote—to people who aren’t even U.S. citizens. That’s right. The LA City Council tried to sneak a ballot measure onto the November election that would let noncitizens vote in local elections. Make no mistake, their plan reeked of globalist nonsense and a disrespect for the meaning of citizenship.
This proposal was a slap in the face to every American who believes our elections matter. The left likes to talk about democracy, but they’re the first to water it down when it suits their agenda. Voting is not a participation trophy you hand out to anyone who wanders in. It’s a privilege and a responsibility earned by becoming a citizen of the United States. But the Council’s radical idea proved, once again, they care more about power than about the law—or about you.
Of course, once the public got wind of this insane scheme, the council quickly yanked it off the table. Maybe they could sense the outrage boiling up from taxpayers who know exactly what’s at stake. Or maybe, after witnessing the disaster unfolding in other progressive-run cities, even they realized how ridiculous the idea was. Either way, their retreat shows these liberals will back down when patriots force them to face the facts.
Yet let’s be honest, their pullback is just politics. The left will try this again the moment people aren’t looking. They know that opening the door to noncitizen voting is the first step to erasing the very concept of American citizenship. For them, every move is about turning out more votes for themselves—even if it means throwing the Constitution in the trash.
Americans need to wake up. If we let liberals rewrite the rules to let anyone vote, then what’s next—letting foreign governments cast our ballots? Our elections should be for Americans, period. If citizenship doesn’t mean anything, then why bother with borders at all?
