The mayor proudly raised a Somali flag above City Hall, claiming it made the city “diverse,” while at the same time, Independence Day fireworks for America were shut down over so-called “safety concerns.” Only in Democrat-run cities do foreign nations earn more priority than Old Glory.

It didn’t take long for local patriots—let’s be honest, regular Americans who love this country—to remind city officials that Buffalo, New York is still in the United States. Someone took action and removed the Somali flag overnight. Rather than pausing for a moment of self-reflection, the mayor launched a full-on police investigation. He’s more fired up about finding the person who cut down a foreign flag than about celebrating America’s own independence. That’s the twisted state of leadership in blue cities today.

Meanwhile, when asked why Buffalo can’t manage to put on a fireworks show for July 4th, the answer was pure bureaucratic nonsense. Apparently, launching pyrotechnics from a barge in the river is an impossible task for July, but, by some miracle, it’ll be doable on August 2nd—just not for Independence Day. It’s clear which holidays this mayor wants to elevate, and it sure isn’t the one that matters most to America.

Buffalo’s mayor will be up for re-election in 2028. Maybe he’ll run on a platform of putting foreign interests first—even ahead of the country he’s supposed to serve.
