The so-called experts on the left want everyone to believe America was built on vague, feel-good promises. But if you look back at what really drove our founders, the truth jumps off the page. The men who risked everything in 1776 did it because they were fed up—with foreign bureaucrats taxing them into poverty, flooding their land with outsiders, and jamming up trade to serve the Crown’s greed. They were tired of a distant government ignoring their voices and bloating its own power. Sound familiar? It should. The very same battles roar on today.
Liberals love to scoff at talk of “America First” economics. But what were the Revolution and the Declaration of Independence if not just that? Our founders knew that giving away control of borders, taxes, and trade meant handing America’s future to global masters. That’s exactly what today’s leftists want—open borders, out-of-control spending, and endless trade deals that fatten foreign pockets while leaving working Americans high and dry.
Decisions about taxes used to be up to the people, not some unelected elite. Now, left-wing busybodies in Washington believe they know how to spend your money better than your own family does. The founders wanted laws and budgets that fit the unique needs of the American people. Guess what? So do millions of citizens who are tired of their money funding the pet projects of radical ideologues and foreign nations.
Look at trade policy. While Democrats kiss the ring of big global corporations and cheap overseas labor, true patriots want to bring jobs, factories, and opportunity back to Main Street. Our country exploded with prosperity when it stood up for itself and put American labor first. That’s the spirit Washington’s establishment fears most: citizens demanding leaders who protect American business, not bow before international bureaucrats who wouldn’t know rural Ohio from a hole in the wall.
And all the while, government keeps growing, swallowing freedoms, and smothering voices. That’s what drove our ancestors to act. Yet liberal politicians double down, growing the bureaucracy, inviting chaos at the border, and apologizing for America’s success. Has anyone noticed that the more leftists talk about “progress,” the more regular folks get left behind?
Let’s be honest. The original American dream meant controlling our destiny, not letting globalists and woke elites rewrite our story. If the spirit of 1776 is “extreme,” then let’s get a whole lot more extreme. Why should any real American settle for less?
