There’s a sickness spreading through America’s cities, and it was on full display in San Antonio this week. On the eve of our great nation’s 250th birthday—a day meant for celebrating freedom—dozens of radical leftists poured into the streets to honor the failed communist regime of Cuba. These weren’t everyday Americans; they were members of fringe groups like the Party of Socialism and Liberation, waving their red flags just steps from the historic Riverwalk.
With zero shame, these protesters spewed their anti-American propaganda right in front of families and tourists. Instead of celebrating the sacrifice of our Founding Fathers, they chanted Marxist slogans and shoved pamphlets of failed ideology into the hands of passersby. How insulting can it get to push communism at the very site where Texans bled for liberty?
This is the real face of the modern American left—a movement so lost, so blinded by hatred for this country, that it would rather praise dictators than honor American heroes. Make no mistake: the globalists and their useful idiots on the street have no respect for our freedoms or our history. They’d rather import the misery of Havana than celebrate the miracles born in Philadelphia.
Where is the outrage from city leaders, who bend over backward for every other protest, but bury their heads when radicals attack our values? The hypocrisy of liberals who rant about “democracy” but cozy up to communists couldn’t be clearer. They love to lecture conservatives about “extremism,” all while tolerating the most dangerous radicals among their own ranks.
As America marks 250 years of freedom and bravery, let’s not pretend these Marxists represent anything but the worst instincts of the modern left. If waving a Cuban flag on Independence Day isn’t anti-American, what is?
