Let’s face it — today’s left hates this spirit. They call America a “failed experiment” and want us to turn inward, accept less, and act happy with crumbs. They dream of a drab socialist utopia where government bureaucrats decide who gets what and everyone stays equal by staying poor. The promise? Own nothing, obey, and be “happy” — as if joy marches to government orders! When socialists talk about “fairness,” what they really mean is cutting everyone down to size. That road leads straight to the wreckage of history, where vibrant societies crumbled into gray, lifeless misery because “experts” said ambition and prosperity were wrong.
History’s clear: It’s capitalism, not socialism, that moves civilization forward. Take ancient Crete — thousands of years ago, people left their caves, built ships, traded with distant lands, and got rich by their own wits. They didn’t wait for handouts; they chased opportunity. Their olive oil didn’t just fuel lamps, it lit up entire societies. Show me a government committee that’s ever sparked a golden age! Competition ruled then, just like it does now — and only the best ideas, the hardest workers, and the most creative thinkers thrived. That’s how greatness happens.
America’s DNA is all about competition. Sports, business, science — every day, millions try to be the best, not the most “equal.” Go anywhere in the world, and you’ll see kids shooting hoops or racing down fields, all trying to outdo each other. That’s human nature, not some evil capitalist plot. The left wants to stamp out this drive — but without it, societies wither and die. Just look at Rome. When the empire lost its competitive edge, when the people got lazy and the government grew corrupt, everything fell apart. Starvation, chaos, collapse. It’s not a myth — it’s what happens when government replaces grit and ambition.
America isn’t “finished” — not by a long shot.
