America’s real patriots just sent a bold message to the rest of the country: you can throw storms, cancel orders, and insults their way, but you can’t kill American spirit. While a historic heatwave and brewing summer thunderstorm shut down the grand America 250 celebrations in D.C., hundreds of proud Americans refused to retreat. These folks didn’t flee at the first inconvenience. No, they stood their ground—chanting, waving their flags, and braving the elements for the sake of liberty.
Meanwhile, the so-called leaders and experts wasted no time panicking. The bureaucrats ordered people away “for their own safety,” but genuine patriots saw right through it. Some suspected the order was just another example of government overreach and liberal hand-wringing. Can you really blame them? When the “authorities” sound more like nagging hall monitors than defenders of freedom, it’s hard to take their warnings seriously.
Not surprisingly, President Trump didn’t cower in the face of thunderclouds or government all-clear. He listened to the voices of the crowd and refused to let the spirit of July 4th be washed away. It’s a far cry from the anti-American whining pushed by the radical left. Instead of joining in the celebrations, woke liberals decided to spend this year’s Independence Day posting pathetic complaints and blaming America for every problem under the sun. They can’t stand a day that’s not about division or shame.
Take a look at how some media outlets spent the day hand-wringing that President Trump supposedly “ruined” the Fourth of July. Liberals lined up to throw mud at their own country on its 250th birthday, choosing to repeat the same old lies about “oppression” and “injustice,” instead of embracing what makes America exceptional. They could learn a thing or two from the backbone of those who stood defiantly on the D.C. streets.
When did simple national pride become an act of rebellion? Only in today’s upside-down culture, where loving America means painting a target on your back for the woke mob. But that’s exactly why these proud Americans are needed more than ever. If liberals hate this country so much, maybe they should just sit out the next Independence Day—and let the real patriots wave the flag high.
