The so-called “rule of law” has become little more than a playground for the Left. For years, they’ve exploited legal loopholes and weaponized the justice system to punish conservatives while protecting their own. But what if it’s time for a little payback? There’s a tool sitting right in plain sight—civil asset forfeiture. It’s dry on paper, but it’s the ultimate wrecking ball the Right could unleash. The establishment shrugs it off as a crime-fighting measure. In reality, it’s a gold mine for political warriors willing to actually fight.
With civil asset forfeiture, law enforcement or prosecutors can seize property based on mere suspicion of criminal activity. No one needs to be charged, never mind convicted. Forget about beyond a reasonable doubt—here, it’s just “maybe sort of looks bad.” And when the property owner tries to get it back, the government only needs to convince a jury the forfeiture is more likely right than not. Meanwhile, they drown the target in discovery—raiding their records, dragging them through depositions, with any stray piece of evidence opening the door for felony charges. The game is rigged from the jump, and the house almost always wins.
While Americans are told this sledgehammer only knocks down drug lords, the truth is even innocent families and small business owners have had their lives destroyed by it. Over $80 billion in assets have been snatched up this way since 2000—homes, bank accounts, entire livelihoods. But when it comes to truly powerful organizations, there’s a stunning hypocrisy. Massive, far-left nonprofits and NGOs—Soros-funded groups, the ones funneling money to extremists and anti-American agitators—have gotten a free pass for years. One “charity,” infamous for pretending to defend civil rights, was even accused by prosecutors of channeling millions to hate groups. Yet if asset forfeiture laws were used here, whole war chests could be seized without a single criminal charge.
The hypocrisy doesn’t end there. When Democrats want to take down a conservative, they bend the rules by writing new ones. Remember the years-old assault allegations against a certain Republican president? Democrats in New York rushed through a law just to let the case go forward, ignoring statutes of limitations. The Left has no problem rewriting the rules when it serves their political hit jobs.
Meanwhile, the 2020 election—the one riddled with suspicious mail-in ballots—was swept under the rug by the courts on “technicalities.” But fraudulent ballots are mail fraud. Under asset forfeiture laws, every group “reasonably suspected” of pushing phony votes could have had their assets frozen in a heartbeat. No politicians wanted to bother. That window has almost closed, but Democrats themselves have shown how to blow open statutes of limitation if they want to.
This isn’t just politics. It’s a cultural war for America’s soul. The Left doesn’t believe in fair play or shared values. The new breed of activist thinks this country is rotten—a “settler colony” they want to “decolonize.” They despise everything patriotic Americans stand for, and they’re happy to torch every principle that keeps this country free. They’ll use any weapon, legal or otherwise, to crush opposition. Meanwhile, some on the Right still think this is a polite contest of ideas.
There’s no more time for wishful thinking. The Left is armed, reckless, and ready to finish the job—packing courts, turning cities into lawless wastelands, and tilting the field forever. The only thing stopping them is our unwillingness to fight with the same intensity. Civil asset forfeiture could break the financial backbone of the activist Left overnight. Instead of waiting for the next round of rigged trials or foreign-funded riots, real conservatives should consider using the legal nukes already in our arsenal.
