Communism always promises equality and paradise. What does it actually deliver? Blackouts, misery, and a nation stuck in the dark ages—literally. Just 90 miles south of sunny Florida, Cuba has once again plunged into darkness, the whole island hit by a massive power outage. This is what happens when you let left-wing radicals run your country. The lights go out, and hope goes with them.
For decades, shameless socialists have painted Cuba as a glowing example of “worker power” and “equality.” But equality in Cuba doesn’t mean everyone gets a fair shot. It means nobody gets anything at all. While politicians in Havana keep their champagne cool—thanks to backup generators—the average Cuban families sweat in the stifling heat, with no air conditioning and no way to keep food from spoiling. That’s the real legacy of Marxist “utopia.”
The same liberals who flock to Havana for mojitos and Instagram selfies are the ones lecturing Americans about how we need more state control, more government, more “fairness.” But fairness in Cuba looks like endless bread lines, empty grocery stores, and blacked out streets. Instead of opportunity and freedom, communism offers ration cards and excuses from party officials.
Of course, the so-called champions of the people in Washington and their globalist friends will make excuses. They’ll blame America, blame the embargo, blame anyone except the failed ideology itself. The truth is plain: Cuba’s ruling class cares more about clinging to power than powering their nation’s homes.
Maybe it’s time for the American left to take a hard look at their socialist fantasies. If socialism is so great, why are Cubans risking everything to flee toward freedom and light—rather than the other way around? Communism isn’t progress. It’s darkness, both figuratively and literally. Next time a liberal tells you socialism works, just ask them: would you rather live with your lights on or off?
