The radical Left will never stop amazing us with just how clueless they can be. These days, you’ve got “Queers for Palestine” marching in America, waving rainbow flags for the very same regimes that would see them tossed off rooftops. They keep defending ideologies that see their lives as a crime, thinking if they virtue signal hard enough, maybe their new friends overseas will offer a pat on the back. Instead, they get a boot.
Here’s the proof. An LGBTQ cruise wanted to drop anchor in Turkey, expecting nothing but warm welcomes—because, of course, the Left thinks their “tolerance” ideals are universal. Instead, Turkish authorities slammed the door shut. The cruise, packed with more than a thousand Americans, was flat-out banned. Turkey called the passengers “incompatible” with its morals and society. This wasn’t an anonymous internet troll, but the official government—making it crystal clear: entry denied if you dare not fit their definition of “family values.”
This is not some outlier. For years, Turkey’s government has grown more aggressive against anyone not perfectly fitting their religious vision. Pride marches are banned. Gay people are targeted. And yet left-wing activists and Hollywood elites are shocked—shocked!—when reality smacks them square in the face. Some cruise performers were outraged that people were being turned away simply for existing. What exactly did they expect from a country where morals and “family values” are defined by the most hardline theocrats?
If there’s any lesson here, it’s that you cannot appease the unappeasable. Islamic governments are not interested in woke western slogans or hashtags. They don’t care about your pronouns or gender ideology. Egypt, another stop for this cruise, doesn’t even recognize non-binary genders on passports. Yet the Left keeps insisting that if they just shout louder, wave more flags, and blast enough hashtags, everyone will magically embrace their agenda.
Maybe it’s about time the Left stopped bending over backwards for the world’s most intolerant regimes. Maybe American liberals should take a hard look at who their real allies are—and who see them as nothing more than a problem to be erased.
The hypocrisy and foolishness are plain for all to see. Why are progressives so desperate to cuddle up to those who would never accept them, let alone tolerate American values? Isn’t it time the Left stopped pretending the rest of the world plays by their rules?
