Once again, Democrats are trying to sweep their own scandals under the rug—until they can’t. Now, faced with shocking allegations against Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, even Bernie Sanders is scrambling for cover. Instead of showing any real moral leadership, Sanders simply suggests Platner bow out, as if that erases any responsibility. This is the same party that lectures America about “believing all women” and holding people accountable, but when it strikes their own, suddenly they’re all about optics rather than justice.
This is what voters get with the left. Politicians who want to pretend to be heroes only when it’s easy or convenient. They cloak themselves in fake virtue, but when one of their anointed faces serious accusations—like a new rape allegation—they rush to distance themselves without ever questioning the rotten culture they created. Where is the outrage we always hear from Democrats? Where are the protests and speeches about women’s safety now?
Liberals love talking tough about “protecting the vulnerable” and “ending toxic behavior.” But when it’s their candidate, it’s all excuses and backtracking. Sanders’ suggestion for Platner to quietly “step aside” is nothing but damage control for the Democrat machine. They’re not worried about victims. They’re worried about bad press and keeping power at any cost. It’s the same story every time—a left-wing figure gets exposed, then the entire party acts shocked, passes the blame, and hopes the voters forget.
And let’s not ignore how conveniently these scandals are timed. With the elections getting closer, the Democrats are more desperate than ever to hide their dirty laundry. They can’t even keep their own house in order, yet they want to dictate every aspect of American life with big government programs, globalist policies, and endless rules for the rest of us. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
The truth is, the Democrat playbook hasn’t changed: Preach accountability for everyone else, but dodge it themselves. If this is how the left acts with their own candidates, why should anyone trust them with real power? Maybe it’s time the voters ask who’s next on their list of “leaders” with skeletons waiting to spill out.
