San Francisco is at it again—teaching the nation what happens when left-wing policies run wild. Take the latest viral video making the rounds: a woman, determined to dodge the fare on BART’s public transit, thought she could simply slip under the gate like so many before her. Only this time, she didn’t count on the new, supposedly “scammer-proof” fare gates. Instead of getting away with another free ride, her criminal escapade landed her a humiliating—and, yes, painful—lesson right in the behind.
For years, liberals running California’s big cities have treated crime like it’s some kind of joke. They blamed “inequality,” ignored hardened lawbreakers, and practically encouraged fare cheats to treat public transportation like an all-you-can-ride buffet. People who actually pay their way? They were left footing the bill, while cheaters laughed all the way past the turnstile.
Well, reality finally caught up. Now, with fare dodging bleeding millions from the transit system, they’ve been forced—kicking and screaming—to build gates that do what cops and honest government should have done all along: say “No” to thieves and scam artists. And wouldn’t you know it, the moment someone tries to slither through, she’s stopped cold. It’s hard not to get a little satisfaction watching the so-called “victims” of society come up empty when the system finally enforces its own rules.
But here’s the kicker: liberals still manage to spin this as some sign of oppression. They’ll cry that fare gates are “unfair,” “discriminatory,” or even “dangerous.” Never mind that most Americans just want safe, reliable services. “Social justice” warriors act like obeying the law is a privilege, not a basic expectation for living in a civilized society. It’s pure lunacy, and regular folks are sick of paying for it.
Maybe this little moment of public embarrassment will send a message to the rest of the freeloaders. Or maybe it’ll just take more turnstile face-plants before progressives realize that law and order aren’t dirty words. The real pain in the rear, though, isn’t the fare gate—it’s the twisted mindset that treats lawbreakers like heroes and hard-working Americans like suckers.
