Venezuelan quake horror exposes the deadly cost of failed socialism

The recent devastation in Venezuela goes far deeper than collapsing buildings. Two earthquakes slammed the country in a matter of seconds, and the death toll is climbing by the day. Over three and a half thousand lives lost, seventeen thousand more wounded, and tens of thousands still missing. And as of today, rescuers are still pulling people out from under the rubble. It’s a gruesome picture, but it isn’t just about natural disaster. This is what happens when socialist dogma replaces common sense governance.

For years, globalist do-gooders and the leftist elite have propped up Venezuela’s corrupt regime—always singing praises about “equality” and “social justice.” Well, what good is any of that when the roads crumble and the hospitals collapse right along with them? The suffering of the Venezuelan people exposes the truth: No amount of progressive slogans can replace solid leadership, strong institutions, and the integrity that fuels freedom.

This catastrophe hits especially hard when you realize the failures here are man-made. Socialist governments love to seize control—but they never bother with basic competence or infrastructure. Instead of investing in sturdy buildings, robust emergency services, and responsible urban planning, they line their friends’ pockets, silence critics, and wait for someone else to clean up their mess. When disaster strikes, all the empty talk in the world can’t pull a child from beneath a collapsed roof.

But what do our own liberals do? They wring their hands and mumble about “climate change” or “inequality” instead of facing facts. Venezuela is their utopian fantasy writ large, and now it’s collapsed—literally—on top of innocent people. As usual, global elites lecture Americans on how to run our own country while ignoring the devastation caused by their favorite “progressive” experiments abroad.

Americans should look at Venezuela and take a hard lesson. Disaster comes fast when we trade patriotism for globalist vanity. Strong borders, strong values, and strong families are what keep a nation standing tall. No amount of socialist daydreaming will ever bring back those lost lives. Do we really want the same crowd now running our cities to decide America’s future?
