Once again, America’s teachers have been played for suckers. While honest educators work hard in classrooms, their dues money is being spent to fatten the wallets of union elites like Randi Weingarten. She didn’t just use those hard-earned dollars to bankroll her latest vanity project—a book that most Americans will never read—she did it with no shame, expecting no pushback.
Now, Congress has stepped in. Lawmakers are demanding the receipts. And why shouldn’t they? This is money taken straight from teachers’ paychecks, scraped from the pockets of educators who thought their union dues might fight for fair pay or safer schools. Instead, that cash makes its way to publishers, printers, and—who knows?—maybe even Weingarten herself, all so she can play celebrity author.
The hypocrisy is thick. Liberals never tire of telling America to “follow the money,” but when the heat gets turned on their heroes, suddenly transparency becomes too much to ask. You know what real teachers need? Less union propaganda and more cash in their paychecks. But when it comes to Randi, her idea of “serving the members” means pushing her agenda, plastering her name on another book, and cashing in behind closed doors.
Don’t pretend for one second that this is about teachers or kids. This racket is all about propping up a radical agenda and making sure powerful union bosses like Weingarten can keep rubbing elbows with the D.C. elite. It’s no wonder American public schools are in crisis—with this kind of leadership, failure is almost guaranteed. Meanwhile, the folks footing the bill get little more than empty promises and tired political talking points.
So, will Congress finally shine a light on this union gravy train? Maybe it’s time for Randi to open her books instead of trying to sell another one. If American teachers are getting ripped off, isn’t it about time someone stood up for them instead of the union bosses? Or is it just business as usual for the liberal education swamp?
