NYC faces sweltering blackout risk after green energy push leaves families desperate for AC

It’s always the same story with New York’s liberal lawmakers: they break something, then pretend to be shocked when it doesn’t work. Just look at Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s latest “warning” about air conditioning during the summer heatwave. He’s suddenly anxious that the city’s power grid might fail to keep people cool. But here’s the kicker—he is one of the architects of the disaster in the first place.

For years, left-wing politicians like Mamdani have pushed “green energy” fantasies that sound nice in speeches but fall apart in real life. They’ve waged an all-out war on reliable energy sources in the name of climate “justice.” Power plants are getting shut down. They tell us we don’t need gas, don’t need oil, and can just plug everything in and hope the wind blows. Now New Yorkers get to test this liberal experiment—not with their opinions, but with their sweat.

While elites like Mamdani boast about “saving the planet,” it’s hardworking families, the elderly, kids, and the most vulnerable who are left sweating in their own homes. What a cruel joke. Those championing these green fantasies live in luxury brownstones and have backup generators ready to go. But for everyone else, thanks to green politics, a basic necessity like air conditioning turns into a luxury.

Liberal leaders love to grandstand about “caring for the people.” But the plain truth is that their love for globalist climate policies takes priority over any concern for Americans. They’re willing to leave the grid weakest exactly when New York families need cooling the most. It’s not bravery—it’s incompetence at best and callousness at worst.

Here’s the big question: when will New Yorkers wake up and realize that these climate-obsessed politicians care more about virtue-signaling than about working air conditioners? If Mamdani and his liberal pals keep having their way, New York could soon be hotter than ever—and a whole lot more uncomfortable. Maybe next time they switch off a power plant, they should try sweating through a summer with everyone else.
