When it comes to left-wing scandals, the hypocrisy is endless. Just look at what’s playing out right now in Maine. Graham Platner, the so-called progressive darling running to take Senator Susan Collins’ seat, is standing knee-deep in disgrace after a serious rape accusation. Yet the leftist elites—who never stop lecturing America about morality—are tripping over themselves, still licking their wounds for championing this guy for so long.
The worst offender? It’s got to be the “legendary author” who, rather than protecting his own legacy, keeps digging himself deeper in the mud by dreaming Platner will somehow stay in the race. This is what passes for leadership on the left—turning a blind eye to ugly allegations as long as it lines up with their anti-American agenda. If the same thing happened on the right, these progressives would be the first to call for heads to roll, screeching until they got what they wanted. But now, as long as it’s one of their own, suddenly due process matters. What a joke.
Don’t forget: so-called progressive heroes like Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna couldn’t stop praising Platner when it was convenient. Now, they’re left exposed and humiliated. Maybe they thought nobody would notice? When you prop up an unqualified, scandal-ridden candidate just because he shares your left-wing fantasies, this is what you get. The American people see right through it.
It just proves how out of touch the modern left truly is. They’ll cheer for anyone as long as they push globalist policies, attack American values, and promise free stuff. But the second there’s a real problem—like, say, a serious criminal allegation—they turn into cowards. They refuse to take responsibility, always putting their political power above basic decency.
So now, with Platner’s campaign (and reputation) in shambles, the left is scrambling, desperate to pretend this never happened. But Americans know better. The left can’t hide from who they are: champions of double standards, apologists for their own, and the first to condemn everyone else. Just once, wouldn’t it be refreshing if they held their own accountable?
