The shocking truth teachers unions and activists are hiding from parents in American schools

There’s a tired phrase that keeps getting thrown around in America: all teachers are heroes. Sure, there are some excellent educators out there. But let’s stop pretending the whole profession is some shining beacon of virtue. The cold truth is, many classrooms across this country are led by people who probably shouldn’t be allowed near children in the first place.

Let’s talk about the ugly reality behind the glowing praise. For decades, smart voices like Thomas Sowell have pointed out that pursuing a degree in education is often the last resort for the weakest students. It’s no accident—data shows that top test scorers rarely pick education as a major. More often, it’s the bottom of the barrel filling these roles. That’s how you end up with so-called “experts” who aren’t respected by anyone outside their own bubbles. It’s embarrassing that holding a doctorate in education is treated like being an actual doctor of science or history, especially when so many of these degrees are glorified participation trophies.

But the rot goes even deeper. Today’s education system is a breeding ground for trendy left-wing fads and outright indoctrination. Instead of teaching kids how to read or add, too many schools push propaganda on race, gender, and anti-American nonsense. Anyone shocked by a Vegas teacher encouraging middle-schoolers to explore gender ideology and hide things from parents just hasn’t been paying attention. And when schools bring in high-priced “diversity consultants” and hand out books painting cops as the villains, it’s clear the mission has gone off the rails.

The real architects of this mess are the liberal teacher unions and their Democrat partners in crime. For years, those unions have used their money and voting muscle to pack schools with activists, not educators. National union bosses like Randi Weingarten act more like political attack dogs than respected leaders. It was unions’ cash and pressure that helped pass absurd “no parental notification” laws in places like California, which only got slapped down by the courts. Now, districts are stuck in limbo, and families are the ones left picking up the pieces while schools try to hide their radical agendas.

And don’t forget about the shameful lowering of standards. When simple math tests are called “racist,” and lawsuits pile up because some can’t answer basic questions, you know the system is broken by design. The education establishment is more concerned with “equity” than excellence—demanding an end to competency tests and letting unqualified teachers loose on our kids. No wonder American students keep falling further behind.

So next time someone gushes about how wonderful all our teachers are, maybe ask if they’re talking about the rare few who actually know their subject, put country over politics, and refuse to use kids as pawns. Or are they just parroting union slogans while classrooms become battlegrounds for the progressive agenda? America deserves better. When did raising radicals become the real curriculum?
