The Democratic Party loves to toss around the word “freedom,” but their definition is twisted and narrow. Pennsylvania’s Governor Josh Shapiro is the latest example, bragging about his party being the real defenders of liberty. What does that look like? According to Shapiro, it means doing whatever the Left wants—like pushing radical abortion policies, allowing children access to explicit LGBTQ content, and enforcing vaccine mandates. But where does that so-called freedom stop? Right at the point where actual choice should matter.
Don’t be fooled—Democrats hate real freedom when it threatens their political power or cozy union relationships. Shapiro just made it clear that as long as he’s governor, Pennsylvania will never become a right-to-work state. Translation: if you want to keep your job, you will pay union dues, even if you disagree with what those dues fund. And let’s not pretend where that money goes. Massive chunks flow straight into Democratic Party coffers, fueling more left-wing campaigns and more government overreach.
There’s no freedom of association or speech for anyone who dares challenge the Democratic machine. In Shapiro’s world, mandatory union membership is sacred, but Christian business owners get fewer rights than criminals illegally crossing the border. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing. Democrats claim to support personal choice, except on everything from education and business to religious beliefs and even which books your kids can—and can’t—read.
Let’s be honest: this is about control and cash. Forced unionization isn’t about workers’ rights; it’s about money for Democrats and power grabs that have nothing to do with helping the middle class. Meanwhile, regular Pennsylvanians have to pay up—not just in dues, but in higher taxes and fewer opportunities, all while the streets get less safe and government becomes more bloated.
The so-called “party of freedom” is showing its true colors—more interested in silencing opponents, robbing paychecks, and keeping their grip on power than respecting genuine American rights. How long will hard-working Americans put up with this charade—and when will so-called leaders like Governor Shapiro finally get called out for selling freedom down the river?
