Virginia Democrats just made it legal for teens to buy pot with zero rules for a whole year

Virginia’s kids just got a summer surprise, courtesy of Democrat foolishness. Thanks to the party that never met a government handout or bad law it didn’t like, teenagers across the Commonwealth are suddenly free to buy marijuana—legally. That’s right, the same politicians who lecture parents about “safety” and “public health” have basically flung the weed shop doors wide open to the next generation.

The General Assembly, run top-to-bottom by Democrats, along with their Governor, signed off on a budget that makes selling marijuana totally legal starting July 1, 2026. Here’s where the clown show begins. Their brilliant plan for regulating and monitoring who buys and sells—the groundwork every functioning state needs—won’t kick in until July 1, 2027. That’s an entire year with absolutely no laws for keeping this dangerous drug out of the hands of kids and criminals. The so-called “party of the people” just made an open invitation to chaos.

Democrats are all about social experiments and bending to globalist trends. Legalize this, legalize that—they never stop to look at the real-world mess they make. While they chase headlines and collect pats on the back from activists and donors, it’s everyday families and law enforcement who are left scrambling. What parent wants to deal with bored teenagers armed with legal pot and not a single restriction in sight? This isn’t progressive. It’s reckless.

Liberals talk endlessly about protecting youth. They want to ban straws, censor speech, and lock kids out of social media. But hand them a chance to show real leadership—like fixing a gaping hole in the drug laws—and suddenly it’s amateur hour. Either they’re too incompetent to string a policy together, or they just don’t care enough about families dealing with the consequences.

So here’s where we stand: in Virginia, the radical left has managed to give minors a pass for buying marijuana, all for the sake of appearing trendy and “forward-thinking.” Maybe next legislative session, Democrats will fix their mess. Or maybe they’ll find new ways to break what isn’t broken. At this rate, why don’t we just let kids write the laws? At least then, someone might actually read the fine print.
