California liberals want everyone to believe they’re running a well-oiled, caring government machine. But reality laughs in their faces. Now the truth is on full display, as the USDA demands California pay back a staggering $1.4 billion in so-called “mistakes” from the SNAP food-stamp program. Yes, you read that right: over a billion dollars, gone because of government incompetence.
For years, conservatives have warned that the SNAP system is spiraling out of control. Fraud and error are baked in, but the liberals brush it off as a cost of “compassion.” Of course, they never mention who foots the bill—it’s the honest, hardworking American taxpayer. And now almost one and a half billion dollars is just missing because Sacramento can’t count or refuses to care. Is anyone really surprised?
The government sets a not-so-lofty bar: a 6% error rate is the highest allowed. But in California, even basic math is too much to ask. And let’s be clear—these “errors” are almost always overpayments, not missed help for the needy. Political cronies, bureaucrats, and globalist interests are quick to celebrate California’s so-called progressive leadership, but these people could barely run a lemonade stand without spilling everything in the dirt.
Where is the accountability? Liberal politicians scream about fairness and equity, yet the system they control hemorrhages money meant to help. Still, they find new ways to hike taxes and spend more. Meanwhile, families who actually work for a living watch their hard-earned dollars get thrown out the window, or worse, sent straight to fraudsters and freeloaders.
So next time Gavin Newsom or his pals claim to represent the gold standard, remember the $1.4 billion fiasco. Why should the rest of America trust these so-called leaders with anything more, when they can’t handle the basics? Maybe the real mistake is letting California’s brand of leftist incompetence infect the rest of the country.
