Americans have a reading crisis on their hands, and it’s not just in failing city schools. Even the so-called “elite” Ivy League colleges are spitting out graduates who can barely read and write. Our civilization was built on the ability to communicate, to record, and to reason through written language. Without it, everything that makes life advanced – trade, innovation, progress – falls apart.
For centuries, reading and writing separated free, advanced societies from lawless, backward chaos. Now, thanks to decades of destructive left-wing policies in our schools, we’re watching the lights go out on literacy. The same “experts” who lecture Americans about “equity” and “inclusion” have overseen a complete collapse in basic reading skills—even at the places they brag about most.
It didn’t have to be this way. Instead of focusing on real education, liberal administrators shoved students into dumbed-down classes full of social justice ranting and gender theory. They cut the core basics. Instead of teaching kids to read, they hand out trophies for “self-esteem.” The result? The richest families send their kids to Ivy League colleges, only for them to graduate confused, unread, and unprepared.
But who benefits from this disaster? Globalist interests and anti-American elites win big when the next generation can’t question authority—because they can’t even read a contract. If Americans lose the ability to read, they lose the power to think, debate, or hold corrupt leaders accountable. A nation of illiterates is a nation easily controlled.
If even America’s supposed “best and brightest” can’t read, what future is left for the country? This is more than a tragedy—it’s a five-alarm emergency. Someone needs to ask why the left insists on wrecking what built America in the first place. Maybe that’s exactly the point.
