If you ever needed another example of Democrats thinking they’re above the law, look no further than New Hampshire. State Rep. Ellen D. Read isn’t just trying to dodge a simple speeding ticket. She wants the state Supreme Court to grant her a special get-out-of-jail-free card—all because she happens to have a government license plate. That’s right: the same crowd that preaches “no one is above the law” suddenly thinks the law doesn’t apply to them when it’s inconvenient.
You read that correctly. Rep. Read got clocked driving at more than 100 miles per hour—speeding down Interstate 93 like she was in a Fast & Furious movie. When the police pulled her over, instead of showing a little humility or concern for public safety, she immediately claimed she couldn’t be stopped. Her excuse? She said the ancient state constitution banned police from ticketing her while she was driving to or from the State House for work. Never mind the fact she was putting lives at risk.
Let’s get this straight. Regular Americans are held responsible when they break the law—even when they’re running late for work or picking up their kids. But if you’re a Democrat in power, apparently you can stomp on the gas and leave consequences in the dust. It’s a classic case of liberal double standards. They love to talk about accountability—as long as it’s for the rest of us.
This isn’t the first time she’s tried this trick either. The same Democrat has already pulled out the legislative privilege card after another reckless driving bust. It’s almost as if she believes her job working for the people entitles her to ignore the very laws everyone else must obey. Liberal privilege at its finest: Always inventing new rights for themselves while shredding what little is left of equal justice.
Instead of admitting fault or showing an ounce of responsibility, Read’s now tying up the courts and demanding they rewrite the rules for her benefit. The left never misses a chance to exploit the law—and then wonders why Americans don’t trust the system anymore. If everyone else looked for loopholes like this, who would be left to enforce any laws at all? Isn’t it amazing how justice always seems “flexible” when a progressive is behind the wheel?
